Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

PerchCam collects minimal information necessary to provide the app's functionality:

• App usage analytics — anonymized crash reports and basic usage statistics via Apple's standard App Store analytics. This data is aggregated and cannot identify you personally.
• Purchase information — handled entirely by Apple. PerchCam does not store payment details.
• Support requests — if you contact support, we retain your email address to respond to your inquiry.

2. What We Do NOT Collect

• ❌ Camera footage or video recordings
• ❌ Audio recordings
• ❌ AI detection results or event logs
• ❌ Location data
• ❌ Device identifiers beyond standard Apple analytics
• ❌ RTSP credentials, camera IP addresses, or network information

3. Local Processing

All of PerchCam's core features — video streaming, AI motion/person/sound detection, event recording, and the built-in RTSP/HLS server — run entirely on your device using on-device machine learning models (Apple Vision framework and Core ML).

Video data never leaves your device or local network unless you explicitly configure:

• An SMTP email notification (which may include a snapshot image in the email body)
• A webhook to a third-party service (Slack, Discord, Teams, Lark/Feishu)

These integrations are optional and user-configured. PerchCam does not have a backend server that receives your data.

4. Permissions

PerchCam requests the following iOS permissions:

• Camera — Required for Phone-as-Cam mode to capture video.
• Microphone — Required for Listen mode and sound detection features.
• Local Network — Required to stream to/from RTSP cameras on your local network and to serve the built-in HLS/web viewer.
• Notifications — Required to send push alerts when detection events occur.
• Photo Library — Optional, only if you choose to save clips to your camera roll.

5. Third-Party Services

PerchCam does not integrate any advertising SDKs, tracking SDKs, or third-party analytics beyond Apple's native platform. The following third-party interactions exist only when you configure them:

• Webhook endpoints (Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, Lark/Feishu) — governed by those services' privacy policies
• SMTP email — delivered through the email provider you configure

6. Data Retention

All recordings and event logs are stored locally on your device. You control retention via the in-app settings. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.

7. Children's Privacy

PerchCam is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. Significant changes will be noted in the app's release notes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
